Biography

Mezzo soprano Heather L. Curtis, born in Brooklyn, NY, received her Master's
degree in Vocal Performance in 2001 from The Boston Conservatory, where she
studied with Sheri Greenawald, William Cotten, and Michael Strauss. Ms. Curtis
was a two-year recipient of the Boston Conservatory's Music Division
Scholarship. She earned her Bachelor's degree in music, graduating Summa cum
Laude in 1999 from the State University of New York College at Fredonia's
School of Music, where she received the Fredonia School of Music Scholarship,
the four-year UPS/James Casey Scholarship, the Souza Scholarship, and the
Peg Kirk Memorial Scholarship.
Her operatic roles include Ore in Cavalli's L'Egisto, performed under the baton
of Boston Baroque conductor, Martin Pearlman, and Nora in Vaughan Williams'
Riders to the Sea. She also performed Debussy's Sirènes, under the direction
of New England Philharmonic conductor, Richard Pittman. Ms. Curtis sang as a
member of the professional choir at King's Chapel in Boston, under the
direction of Heinrich Christensen.
In 2001, Ms. Curtis achieved second place in the New England Regional
NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing) Art Song Competition.
She was invited to join the Professional Women Singers Association based in
New York City in 2002. Ms. Curtis made her Carnegie Hall debut in May 2003
singing with the St. Cecilia Chorus under the direction of David Randolph.
She lives in New York City where she studies voice with Caroline Murdoch Khella
and continues to pursue her singing career.
